If you’re building a custom home with Andries Builders, you’re currently on a very exciting journey. There is nothing quite like watching your vision rise from the dirt into a real-life structure. But there is one specific moment in the building process that we absolutely love—and you should too: The Structural Walkthrough.

Think of this as the "X-ray" phase of your home. The framing is up, the wires are run, and the pipes are in place, but the drywall hasn't hidden the "guts" of the house yet. It’s the perfect time to make sure everything is exactly where it needs to be before we seal up the walls.

Why Is This Walkthrough So Important?

At Andries Builders, we pride ourselves on precision, but a custom home is exactly that—custom. This walkthrough is your chance to step into the "skeleton" of your home and visualize your daily life.

  • The "Behind-the-Wall" Peek: Once the drywall is up, moving a light switch or adding a reinforced beam becomes a much bigger project. Doing it now is a breeze!
  • Peace of Mind: You get to see the quality of the craftsmanship firsthand. You’ll see the sturdy framing and organized mechanicals that make an Andries home last for generations.
  • Visualizing Flow: This is the first time you’ll truly feel the "scale" of your rooms.

Your Walkthrough "Cheat Sheet": Questions to Ask

Don't be shy! We want you to feel 100% confident. Here are the top questions you should have ready for your project manager during our stroll:

  1. Electrical & Tech
    • "Is this outlet placed correctly for my bedside table/nightstand?"
    • "Can we add extra blocking here for a heavy wall-mounted TV?"
    • "Are the light switches exactly where I’ll naturally reach for them when I walk into the room?"
  2. Plumbing & HVAC
    • "Where is the main water shut-off located?" (Important for future "grown-up" homeowner moments!)
    • "Will the vents in this room interfere with where I plan to put my curtains or furniture?"
  3. Structural & Storage
    • "Is there extra support in the ceiling for that heavy chandelier I picked out?"
    • "Can we see the layout of the pantry/closet shelving one more time?"

Ready to See Your Home’s "Skeleton"?!

A home should be an adventure, not a mystery. The structural walkthrough is all about transparency. We’ll walk through every stud and wire with you so that when we hand you the keys, you aren’t just walking into a house—you’re walking into a dream home you know inside and out.

They say measure twice, cut once—but walk through three times! It’s much easier to move a wire today than a wall tomorrow. If you’re approaching the framing stage, get your walking shoes (and your questions) ready! We can't wait to show you the hard work we've been doing behind the scenes.
